ProHealth Partners: Your Neighborhood Doctors
Even
with all of the changes in health care today, you can be assured that there
is a doctor in your neighborhood that will take a personal interest in your
care. ProHealth Partners, a primary care medical group with physicians throughout
the Long Beach area, is committed to making medical care convenient and
responsive to the individual needs of you and your family.
"ProHealth
Partners was created over a year ago to fill a need our patients were
telling us about," said Robert Lugliani, M.D., president of ProHealth
Partners. "Many of your told us, 'keep medical care affordable, but
don't force me to go to a big clinic where the care is impersonal and
I'm never sure which doctor I'm going to see'."

More than
27 ProHealth Partners doctors made the decision to stay in their current
office locations, because they are convenient to most neighborhoods in Long
Beach and surrounding communities. Physicians, who have been practicing
in the long Beach community for years, are continually joining ProHealth
Partners and providing new locations.
Personal
Attention
ProHealth
Partners was founded by physicians with well established reputations for
caring for local residents. ProHealth Partners is not owned by a large
corporation or health plan, but was established by your neighborhood doctors.
"Even
though our doctors participate in virtually all types of health plans,
including most PPOs and HMOs, we are organized to assure that managed
care doesn't mean the end of personalized care," Lugliani said. "ProHealth
Partners wants doctors to do what they were trained for - provide compassionate,
highly skilled medical attention."
Easy
Access
With
contracts with most every health plan (see list for details) that serves
Long Beach, southeast Los Angeles County and northwest Orange County,

Center, Community Hospital of Long Beach, Pacific Hospital of Long Beach,

Argus Medical
Management Leads the
Way to Personalized Care

To provide ProHealth Partners more time
to care for their patients, Argus Medical Management was created
to take over the administrative responsibility of running
an office. The primary purpose of Argus is to provide a highly
professional level of management services to physicians, thereby
allowing them to maximize their time with their patients and
patient care.
|
|
Argus
works closely with each physician in ProHealth Partners to
understand their special relationships and unique circumstances
of each patient. This leads to accurate processing of claims
and billing.
Argus
is ProHealth Partners' silent partner because our patients
will have little, if any, contact with Argus. However, these
important services provided by Argus allow our physicians
to provide the same personalized service patients have relied
on for years.
If
at any time should you have questions regarding your account,
the staff at Argus or your physician's staff would be happy
to assist you in resolving your concerns.

Don't
Just Choose a Doctor,
Choose a Partner in Good Health
Open
enrollment provides the best opportunity for managed care patients to
be proactive regarding their healthcare. Before you select your health
plan, talk to your health plan representative or employer on your specific
health plan policies and coverage.
Selecting
your personal primary care physician is one of the most important decisions
you'll have to make about your health care. Today, with all of the different
types of health plans and insurance coverage, often the first step in
that process is determining which health plan to choose. You may have
several options through your employer or available to you individually.
But which one is right for you? Since the terms are confusing, here's
a primer on the basic types of health plans offered.

An HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) provides comprehensive
coverage at a reasonable price. You will select a primary care physician
from a list of provided by the HMO> The primary care physician takes
full responsibility for your health, referring you to specialists or hospital
services when necessary. Co-payments for office visits or prescriptions
are usually minimal. Payment for services not authorized by your primary
care physician are usually not covered by the HMO.

A PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) offers a broader
list of physicians to select primary care and specialty care. You may
go to a physician not on the PPO's list, but you may have to pay a higher
co-payment than you would if you went to a physician in the health plan's
provider list. Co-payments are typically higher than an HMO as is the
cost of the plan itself. As opposed to the HMO, you usually do not need
authorization to see care from a specialist.

A Point of Service (POS) plan is a mix between an HMO
and a PPO. It is basically an HMO which allows you to see care from physicians
not listed in the provider book, but at a higher cost to you. POS plans
usually cost somewhere between the cost of an HMO and a PPO.
Confused?
The ProHealth Partners office staff can help answer your questions about
these definitions. Keep in mind the types of health care services you
use, your budget and what the health plan will pay for and what it will
not.
Remember,
the most important thing to do is choose the right doctor for you. Once
you have selected a doctor, choosing a health plan is easy. Just look
for your ProHealth Partners physician's name in your medical plan's listing
of providers.
Rest
assured that the physicians in ProHealth Partners meet the highest standards
of quality. With locations throughout the greater Long Beach area and
with contracts with more than 100 health plans, you will easily find a
ProHealth Partner to fit your needs.
