"I empower patients with personalized clinical decision-making. I address individuals' nutritional, metabolic and microbiome health-- striving to restore digestive healing by integrating multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed principles of body-structure and function."
Lourdes González Bahamonde, DO is a gastroenterologist, double board certified in internal medicine and medical ethics. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychobiology at UCLA and a master's in bio-physiology at CSULA before earning her medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, NYIT on Long Island. She completed her ACGME-fellowship training in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New York in 2013.
While Dr. Bahamonde specializes in digestive disorders, her practice has evolved toward integrative, preventive, patient-centered care that combines learned principles in internal medicine and GI with osteopathic manipulative medicine in practice.
Over the 4 years since relocating from NY, she has performed over 7500 colorectal and gastric cancer screening endoscopies with polypectomies and mucosal resections, as well as advanced disease screenings for chronic liver disease. Dr. Bahamonde emphasizes peer-reviewed understanding of the interrelationship of body, structure, and function. She has dedicated her life to serving diverse communities through education and cultural competence, recognizing the importance of open communication in shared-decision making.
Dr. Bahamonde continues to inspire future health care leaders as volunteer faculty in clinical medicine, medical ethics and clinical research. She is dedicated to translational science efforts for youth in STEM programs and students in pre-health professions.
